The best routes to getting emails are the traditional ones; Create good content that people will want to subscribe to (Regular newsletter, company news etc.) and then give your site visitors every opportunity to sign up. These days, more people use social sites for regular communications so this should be totally integrated into your list building strategy, make sure you have a profile on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn and make the “follow us” links easy to see and use. Buying email lists is very hit and miss unfortunately and you should look for quality, not volume – if taking this path, focus on obtaining genuine double-opt-in verified lists within specific niches or industries and make sure you market to them correctly, anti-spam systems block a lot of email advertising so be aware that email publishing as a medium is gradually being replaced by Social media (wont stop the spammers trying though!).

Thank your for the post…. I was wondering, in your opinion, if you are a small business just starting to get going, what is the best way to obtain the appropriate email lists that you need? Maybe not only the best way but the cheapest as well?
