Apple Pay is a trademark of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.
There’s no need to carry cards with Apple’s new payment service.
Apple Pay is a cardless payment system that lets your customers pay for goods up to using their iPhone or Apple Watch.
The service uses the same technology as contactless credit and debit cards but combines it with the latest fingerprint scanning techniques for improved security for you and your customers.
This means customers can pay without their card or PIN simply by tapping their phone or watch on your card machine and validating it with their unique thumb print.
The service works on all Apple watches and iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices.
With more than six million users of these devices in the UK, Apple Pay is a payment solution your business can’t afford to ignore.
All you need to accept Apple Pay in your business is one of our contactless card machines. Our card terminals all come with contactless technology built-in so they’re ready to go right away. If customers want to settle up with Apple Pay, they need to register their card details to their Wallet - the Apple payment app which comes with their phone or watch.
There is no extra charge for you to accept these payments and no extra fees applied to customers. We don’t charge you anything extra for offering this service because the contactless technology comes included as standard.
Customers can use both credit or debit cards (card does not have to be contactless) for their Apple Pay account. The scheme is backed by Visa, MasterCard and American Express. At the moment, corporate cards are not supported by Apple Pay. We will update you on this in future when we hear more from Apple.
It’s important to let your customers know that your business is set up to accept Apple Pay. You can advertise this by downloading the Apple Pay logo to use on your terminal screen or you can order Apple Pay stickers to put on your shopfront window and register.
Use the Device Account Number to find the purchase and process the return, just like you would with a traditional credit or debit card payment. To see the last four or five digits of the Device Account Number on iPhone, ask the customer to go to Wallet, tap the card, and tap XXX on the lower-right corner of the display.
At the moment, the most your customers can spend on Apple Pay is . This should help you serve customers making smaller purchases more quickly and encourage people to spend closer to the maximum limit. There are plans to increase this limit as more people use the service.
